The Best Salmon Burgers

Looking for an easy recipe involving salmon that changes it up from the usual salmon filet? These juicy and flavourful burgers got you covered! They’re gluten free, juicy, and packed with flavour from dill and lemon.

BENEFITS OF EATING CANNED SALMON:

1. High in omega-3 fatty acids which are essential for learning and memory and which your brain uses to build brain and nerve cells.

2. Canned salmon with the bones in is a great source of calcium and vitamin D. Calcium helps to build and maintain bones, and vitamin D helps you absorb calcium. ⁣

3. Great source of protein and healthy fats which helps to maintain your blood sugar levels balanced and keeps you fuller for longer. This means less sugar cravings and a more balanced mood. ⁣

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 large cans of cooked salmon with bones and skin

  • 2 eggs

  • 1/2 cup gluten free flour (I used Bob’s Red Mill)

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 cup of fresh chopped dill

  • The juice of half of a lemon

  • Coconut or avocado oil for pan-frying

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Remove excess liquid from the canned salmon, and place in a bowl. Flake the salmon apart with a fork, making sure the bones and skin are crushed and mixed in

  2. Mix all burger ingredients together and form into 3 large or 4 medium patties.

  3. Heat coconut or avocado oil over medium heat, ideally in a nonstick skillet. Fry the burgers for a few minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.

  4. Place on a paper towel lined plate to remove any excess oil and sprinkle with salt.

  5. Dip the burgers in a mix of yogurt (coconut or Greek), freshly chopped dill, and lemon.

  6. Enjoy!
